What Are You Afraid OF?
February 12, 2018Getting down to breathe
July 12, 2018Or is the first time just the beginning of adventures that will always open your heart?
After 21 years of traveling to Cuba, each trip still breaks open my heart and delights me with a new magic. One of the magical highlights, this past month, was getting welcomed into a community yoga project. The teachers all work at other professions and donate their classes. The classes are always free. In the basement of a Russian style apartment building in the interior of Cuba, a beautiful community has come together to create a healing space.
The floors are a mosaic. The vision is not from one artist, but rather everyone in the community bringing extra pieces of their bathroom or kitchen repairs. The energy that went into creating this practice space can be felt the moment that you step into the room. It was truly an honor to be asked to donate classes. I will never stop being amazed at the openness and warmth that Cuban yogis bring to a new teacher and a new style. It is impossible to leave a space like this without more warmth, hope and curiosity about what community and shared practice can build.
We are so grateful to be able to bring people to experience this magic and thrilled that Las Aguas Fund is able to give back to support sustainability in these wellness communities. In July of this year, there will be an amazing healing retreat on Maui that will benefit Las Aguas Fund. More info coming soon!
