Yoga off the mat in Cuba
May 19, 2016Interview with Eduardo Pimentel
September 8, 2016It’s hot.
It’s alive.
Music and dance are EVERYWHERE!
Immersed in Santiago de Cuba’s Carnival, I finally understood the joke that Eduardo Pimentel has told me over the years.
Eduardo, the President of the Cuban Yoga Association, laughs and says he is a “Tropical Guru” and for that reason, he is no guru at all.
When a city like Santiago explodes with drums and singing, amazing parades, grandparents, babies, teenagers and adults getting down in the streets, it becomes a new challenge to be the calm centered observer. The energy in the streets is tangible. The heat of the air mixed with the sounds of music and laughter creates a current that moves your body.
It pulls you in and shakes you up. You party and you play and your yoga is definitely changed.
We will publish a beautiful interview with Eduardo on what makes Cuban yoga unique.
But come see for yourself! Let Cuba shift your perspective. We added several trips for the first half of 2017 and would love to share them with you.
